Evaluation System: Relative grading and a credit-based semester system

An explanation of our assessment system

Evaluation System: - Ten-point relative grading The university uses a letter-grade system. For the purposes of calculating the SGPA and CGPA, each letter grade represents the student's performance level in the course and grade point. Both theory and practical examinations are scored out of 100, with term-end exams receiving 70% of the total score and internal assessments receiving 30%.

Students can obtain the assignments from the Learning Management System portal. Nonetheless, the student will have the option of taking the test on campus or online. The CU ODL website will provide the specifics of the same.

Term End Exams: As the university has declared, the term end exams will be held at the test centres in the months of June and December.

Exam at the End of Term Notification: The University OL website, the OL LMS announcement, the University Campus Notice Board, or the University OL website will all provide detailed notice in this regard.

University ID Card and e-Hall ticket: When taking the applicable term-end exam, students must bring their University ID Card and e-Hall ticket, which will be sent online.
Term End Exam Form: After confirming their eligibility, students must complete the online exam form and pay the examination cost. Students will be able to download the e-Hall ticket via the web portal. The date sheet and comprehensive instructions will be posted on the website well in advance.

Re-Evaluation: By completing the online application and paying the required price within the time frame periodically stated by the university, a student can request a re-evaluation of a course paper. The re-evaluation cost will be reimbursed if the marks increase by more than ten percent (10%) of the total marks after the re-evaluation.

Results of the Term End Announcement: The University OL website's exam section will be where the Term End Results are announced. Students will not receive a separate notification in this regard.

The  assessment  system  at  Chandigarh University

The greatest options for assessment and certification, as well as their worldwide acceptability, were taken into consideration when designing Chandigarh University's examination system. The system's fundamental tenet is that it is "scientific, objective, and transparent," with the least amount of subjectivity brought about by a specific subject, evaluator, or student body.

The division of the examination system is as follows:

1. Internal Assessment: consists of lessons, assignments, quizzes, first and second hourly tests, and surprise tests.

2. External Assessment: To assess a student's performance, a final exam is given at the end of the semester.

Career Prospects

The following is a list of the examination system's key characteristics:

1. Out of the question banks made specifically for this purpose, the final test papers are generated using an automated software-based procedure.

2. At the university, table marking would be used to evaluate the final semester exam. To ensure regularity, evaluation will be done question-by-question.

3. To guarantee equity and justice, 10% of the answer booklets will be randomly assessed by outside specialists.

4. Students will be shown the evaluated answer books. After agreeing to the evaluation, the student will view and sign the answer books.

5. If a student disagrees with the evaluation, they can pay the required amount to have the answer sheet examined by the Evaluation.

6. Review Board, which was established for that very purpose. No single instructor may alter a student's grade.

7. The Evaluation Review Board's ruling will be final and enforceable.

Students will receive a refund of the review fee if the Evaluation Review Board's suggested increase in marks exceeds 10% of the subject's maximum score.

8. Before being submitted to the university, the departments and institutes must exhibit the final internal evaluation.

9. The Controller of Examination Office will receive all of the marks earned in the internal and external exams and convert them into grades using the appropriate grading scheme.

10. Without any subjectivity, grades will be assigned based on the marks received in each paper using the Normal Distribution.

11. A student will receive a "F" grade if they receive fewer than 35% of the class's highest scores.

12. A student will not receive a "F" grade if they receive more than 50% of the class's highest scores.

13. Depending on the subject's mean and variation, a student who receives scores that fall between 35% and 50% of the class's highest scores may receive a "F" grade.

14. At the time of results announcement, the semester's final grades and SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average) will be shown.

Avoiding the use of unfair methods

The evaluation system's credit and grade point systems

Any student who is caught using unfair methods, such as talking to one another, seeking outside assistance, bringing written materials or a cell phone into the exam room, etc., will face penalties that range from having one paper cancelled to being disqualified from all exams for up to two years. A special committee for the prevention of unfair means (CPUM) has been established for this reason.

1. Students will receive a letter grade in each of the courses they have registered for at the end of the semester based on their overall performance, which includes midterm exams, tests and quizzes (both announced and surprise), laboratory evaluations, tutorial work, seminars, homework, and final exams.

2. Students will receive the letter grades listed below. For the purposes of calculating the SGPA, AGPA, and CGPA, each letter grade represents the student's performance level in the course and grade point.

E Grade: A student who has attended 75% of the subject's scheduled lectures but is unable to take the end-of-semester exam is given an E grade. When the final test is offered for the relevant semester, the student must take it and pay the examination cost alone. Additionally, the student has the option to receive their grade depending on their performance in a variety of internal assessments.

F Grade: This grade is given to students who have attended 75% of the class's scheduled lectures yet receive extremely poor grades. In this instance, the student must pay the examination fee alone and retake the test during the relevant semester.

I Grade: - This grade is given to the student who fails to attend 75% of the scheduled lectures for the topic. In this instance, the student must pay the required paper-wise fee and re-register for the course when it is offered during the relevant semester.

Rarely, any paper may be offered during the summer semester if four or more students choose to take it. During the summer semester, a student may enrol in a maximum of two Theories and one Practical paper.

Total Grade Point Average

The weighted average of all the grades a student has received since starting college up until the most recent semester is known as their CGPA. CGPA =; Ci = Ith Paper Credits Gi is the grade points obtained for the ith paper.
